Simple Treatment Is 400% More Effective For Improving The Blues

When it comes to helping people feel better, live longer, and eradicate many of the disease/conditions we deal with on a regular basis, I can think of no better medicine for these than food.

It's a simple input and output formula: put good food in, and good health comes out.

Now don't get me wrong - there are times when things go wrong with our bodies, and sometimes the best treatment for those comes in the form of a drug.

But for hundreds of the more common conditions my patients deal with, I find the easiest fix is simply changing what they eat.

I've believed this for a long time, and it seems like these beliefs are being supported more and more by mainstream science.

For example, take a recent study out of Deakin University, where researchers observed a simple change in diet was all it took to improve mood.

Whether you know it or not, there's a wealth of research out there showing certain diets are directly linked to mood.

We're now beginning to understand how dietary enhancements can really help improve agonizing concerns.

In their landmark study, researchers took groups of adults with mood concerns, and then split them up into two groups to see how different treatments would affect each group.

Group 1 participants received social support (which is known to be helpful for people with low mood), and group 2 was provided a clinical dietitian.

Both groups were followed for three month's time.

The subjects who were assigned the dietitian were asked to change their diet in order to become "healthier." This meant for three months they adhered to a strict eating plan consisting of only "vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, fish, lean red meats, olive oil, and nuts, while reducing their consumption of unhealthy 'extras' foods, such as sweets, refined cereals, fried food, fast-food, processed meats and sugary drinks."

After three months, the subjects who had altered their diet found their symptoms had greatly lessened, as compared to how they had been before the trial.

Even more impressive was how simply changing their diet was noted to be more productive for their health than the addition of social support groups.

In fact, the study indicated this change in diet was actually 400% more effective.

33% of the participants who fixed their diet were in remission; on the flip side, only 8% of the participants in social support groups were in remission.

I'm not going to lie... this study made me do a little happy dance (in my head, though - not a real dance that anyone could see), since it basically goes along with everything I've been saying about diet for years.

Now I do need to make an important caveat regarding this study...

There are millions of people who have healthy diets and still experience lingering, dietary-related illnesses.

The reason is many of these people have undiagnosed food allergies - so they're eating foods they think are healthy, but aren't healthy for them.

Food allergies are a big problem that often lead to severe health complications.

If you feel like your diet's pretty healthy, but you're still suffering from health issues related to mood, it might be that you've got food allergies.

If that's the case, I invite you to schedule an appointment with us so we can test you for food sensitivities.
