Why You Might Love This Ex-KGB Agent’s Plans for Organic Food

Alright, this is in no way political, at least on my part.

I’m not writing this because of my political leanings or anything like that, I’m just writing about this because I think the story you’re about to read is incredibly cool, and I would love it if the U.S. would pursue a similar policy.

So, here’s what’s happening and why it might matter to you:

Russia, like many nations across the globe, relies heavily on imported food to stay well-fed. However, Russia has enacted a policy to free itself entirely from imported food and to move toward becoming 100% self-sufficient in terms of food production.

How do they plan to do this?

By creating the largest organic food system the world has ever seen.

The craziest thing about this plan is that the mad genius behind it is none other than:

Vladmir Putin. And, yes, he is an ex-KGB agent.

Truthfully, my hope is that the U.S. will take this as a challenge in the same way that we took the nuclear arms race in the Cold War as a challenge. This time, though, we would turn this into a kind of “food arms race.”

The reason this policy has come to pass is that Russia has recently banned the importation of GMO (genetically modified organism) food crops into their country. This means that one of the only ways the country can be sustained is by consistently providing food for itself – a substantial task that’s best undertaken with the use of organic farming methods.

In a recent announcement, Putin said this about his country’s plans:

“We are not only able to feed ourselves taking into account our lands [and] water resources – Russia is able to become the largest world supplier of healthy, ecologically clean and high-quality food which the Western producers have long lost, especially given the fact that demand for such products in the world market is steadily growing,” said Putin, addressing the Russian Parliament on Thursday.

“Ten years ago, we imported almost half of the food from abroad and were dependent on imports. Now, Russia is among the exporters. Last year, Russian exports of agricultural products amounted to almost $20 billion – a quarter more than the revenue from the sale of arms, or one-third the revenue coming from gas exports” he said.

Hardly negative in the grand scheme of things.

The icing on the cake is that, by putting this plan into motion, Putin could do serious damage to the monopoly bio-tech companies (including Monsanto) have on the agricultural world.

This plan would end their seed monopoly, give Russia an independent supply of healthy food, and drive prices down globally.

And, if dreams come true, it could also foster a worldwide reliance on organic foods over GMO foods.

If you’ve ever questioned the safety of GMO food, you’re not alone.

Many of the larger developed nations reject GMOs because of their unproven safety and their potential to harm us.

That’s why Russia, along with 2/3 of the nations in the European Union, have flatly rejected GMO crops and opted out of growing them on their soil.

So, the more we can do to get away from GMOs, the better.

Get excited, y’all. The future for food is bright!

Talk soon,
Dr. Wiggy
